Good, but obselete  |

Ive had one of these for a couple of years now, and was very happy with it under Win98. However, when I was forced to "upgrade" to xp, it essentially became useless. Despite my best efforts, including the steps recommended by Creative, it isnt properly compatible with xp, and neither Microsoft nor Creative appear to have any plans to rectify this. There is no other sound card  |
I write electronic music as well as recording analogue sources. this card is unequalled in my opinion. Its superb, simply superb, and comes with good software too (forget winamp etc, play an MP3 file through Creatives Playcentre and youll consign winamp to the recycle bin). The only thing that scares me slightly is what creatives next card will be capable of!The most satisfying £.... I have ever spent on my PC.

The best sound card ever? |

This sound card is one of the best. It is basically the normal bog-standard Soundblaster Live! card, but on the outside youve got the cool "Live! Drive", which is a must if youre a music tech-head. If you want to create your own MP3 files, or make music with your computer - you must buy this. If you dont want to use the card for music making, get the cheaper option at about £100 less. But its a must for all electronic musicians.
